Abstract
This research proposes to design a STEAM model aimed at promoting the development of competencies in the area of science and technology in secondary education students, the methodology used was the quantitative approach, basic research, and propositional design with a sample of 175 education students. secondary school, to whom a test was applied to measure the level of development of competencies in science and technology, also, three teachers were considered who responded to a questionnaire with a Likert scale that allows analyzing the difficulties for the application of the STEAM methodology. The results showed that the level of achievement of the competences of the science and technology area in students of the VI cycle are at a beginning and process level.
